About Vassiliki

We are so passionate about Vassiliki and the magic it has to offer.

Vassiliki has managed to create a strong sense of community among its seasonaires, all while preserving its traditional Greek history and culture.

It’s hard to imagine that a quiet, tucked-away village on Lefkada’s southern coast could become a global hotspot for windsurfing and sailing—but anyone who’s been here knows exactly why. Vassiliki offers the perfect blend of energy and tranquillity. With its lively evenings, legendary winds, and stunning beaches, it’s no surprise that both Seasonaires and visitors return time and again—and why at Watersports Nomad chose to call Vassiliki home.

Why Vassiliki?

There is no other place that could offer trainee instructors a better experience than Vassiliki. If you are looking to get into watersports then going to a place that has long been a top choice for windsurfing enthusiasts across Europe is a no brainer.

The mornings are calm with a gentle onshore breeze, perfect for beginners, paddleboarders and sailors. In the summer afternoons, the stronger thermal wind (called “Eric”) picks up in the afternoon, creating perfect conditions for windsurfing and sailing. This stronger wind blows across the bay (cross-shore) creating ideal conditions for more advanced sailing, windsurfing and wingfoiling. Often by the end of the day the advanced flat-water windsurfers (aka freestylers) put on a display at the beach outside Club Vass. Perfect place to have a beer and watch the action.

When night falls, the social scene in Vassiliki truly comes alive with BBQ nights, live music, and buzzing bars. Time seems to fly in Vass as you pack your days and nights with exciting activities. To give you a glimpse of what’s in store, we’ve broken down everything you need to know about the nightlife scene in Vassiliki.

A Day in Vass with Watersports Nomad

No two days are the same, but they all share one thing: getting out on the water.

Mornings often start with an optional fitness session or a swim in the flat, clear bay, before the day’s coaching begins. As the breeze builds, you’ll be out practising, being coached and learning the instructor skills that turn a keen windsurfer or sailor into someone who can teach. When “Eric” arrives in the afternoon, it’s time for the good stuff: planing, blasting and progressing on world-class kit. Sessions wrap around 5pm, leaving you free to head back out on your own, chill at the beach bar, or explore.

Then the evenings take over. Team dinners at local tavernas, BBQ nights, quizzes, sunset gatherings on the beach and the buzz of Vassiliki’s bars. This is where the friendships form – the ones that last long after the season ends. It’s a work-hard, play-hard lifestyle, and a big part of why people leave as more confident versions of themselves.

Where is Vassiliki?

Vassiliki is a picturesque harbor village situated on the southern coast of Lefkada Island, Greece. While Lefkada isn’t a main island for British tourists, it is highly popular among Greeks, partly because it is one of the few Greek islands accessible by car. A bridge connects Lefkada to the mainland, making it easy to drive to and explore. Lefkada is part of the Ionian Islands, located north of Kefalonia and south of Corfu.

Vassiliki itself is located at the southern tip of the island, offering stunning views of the nearby islands of Kefalonia and Ithaca.

How to get to Vassiliki?

The closest airport is Preveza (Aktion) Airport (PVK), located about 45 minutes from Vassiliki by car. You can fly into Preveza from major international hubs or connecting flights from Athens. From the airport, you can take a taxi, rent a car, or book a shuttle to Vassiliki.
